The home of The Heart Foundation of Jamaica (The HFJ) is located at 28 Beechwood Avenue Kingston 5
and offers an array of medical screening.

   Screening tests include:
     • Electrocardiogram (ECG) test
     • Blood sugar test
     • HBA1C (test for the control of diabetes over a 3 month period)
     • Hemoglobin tests (Iron level)
     • Blood pressure checks
     • Cholesterol tests
     • Body Mass Index (BMI -height and weight checks)
     • Urinalysis test (test for kidney function)

The Heart Foundation of Jamaica enjoys a close relationship with the Cardiology Department of the University
Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) from which cardiologists give assistance with the interpretation of
   electrocardiograms (ECGs).

Patients who are discovered to have conditions requiring follow-up specialist care, are referred to a private
cardiologist or to the Cardiology Department of the University Hospital of the West Indies, where a weekly
   outpatient clinic is held.

The screening services at The HFJ are headed by a Medical Manager, who is a Registered Nurse.
These services are available from Mondays to Thursdays from 8:00am - 4:00pm and 8:00am - 3:30pm on
   Fridays.

A referral from a doctor is not necessary to access the screening services at the Foundation. This assists with the
reduction of costs to the patients, thereby encouraging them to attend for a check-up. If a problem is identified,
patients would then be referred as necessary.
